You helped Jordan rebuild her life
“I never really grieved when Mum passed away—I was caught up in everything else.”
Jordan’s* life changed forever when her mum passed away. At just twenty, she found herself on the streets, struggling with substance use and unable to cope with the weight of her loss.
Without a safe place to stay and no one to turn to, Jordan began sleeping rough, finding shelter wherever she could.

A Christmas of hope and joy - thanks to you

For many, Christmas is a time of togetherness, but for people experiencing homelessness, it can often feel like another day of isolation.
Thanks to your incredible generosity, no one had to face this Christmas alone. Your kindness ensured that everyone who walked through our doors felt seen, cared for, and part of a community.
Kindness takes the cake
At Hutt St Centre, we’re constantly inspired by the power of community, and 14-year-old Finn proves that making a difference doesn’t require years of experience—just a big heart and determination.
After noticing people sleeping rough in his suburb and city, Finn felt compelled to help. Pairing his compassion with his love of baking, he organised cake stall fundraisers, rallying his neighbourhood to support people doing it tough.

Hutt St Centre Platinum Jubilee

From humble beginnings in 1954, when the Daughters of Charity served sandwiches and tea to returned war veterans, Hutt St Centre has become a vital service for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness in South Australia.
This incredible journey wouldn’t have been possible without you, our generous supporters. Thank you for standing by us and making this work possible.

You’re making lifesaving healthcare possible
For many people experiencing homelessness, healthcare is hard to access and often not a top priority. The Hutt Street Health Program, started in July 2024 with Sonder and Hutt St Centre, is changing that—giving people the care they need, thanks to your support.
Led by James, a Drug and Alcohol and Mental Health Counsellor, Debbie, an Occupational Therapist, and Rema, a Diabetes Educator, this program brings much-needed healthcare directly to people facing homelessness.
