A festive Christmas lunch, thoughtful gift and companionship
This Christmas, give someone facing homelessness a Glimmer of Home, give someone facing homelessness a Glimmer of Home this Christmas
At Christmas, home is more than a place—it’s the comfort of family and traditions, the smell of a Christmas meal, laughter around the table, and the glow of decorations.
For people experiencing homelessness, these comforts can feel painfully out of reach. Thousands in our community are sleeping rough, couch surfing, or living in cars and motels. For many, it will be their first Christmas without a home.
You can offer something truly special – with your compassionate support, a glimmer of home is in reach for them this Christmas.

Andrew spent Christmas on the streets alone for five years.
Christmas used to be special for Andrew*. He grew up in a loving home, with fond memories of Christmas Eve Mass, unwrapping presents, and long lunches with family.
But as Andrew’s mental health worsened, he turned to partying, drinking, and drugs for relief. Family relationships strained, he lost his job, and eventually, he made the drastic decision to live on the streets.
Surviving the streets was his only focus, and Christmas was just another day spent alone.
“When you’re nostalgic about missing family at Christmas and you’re thinking about how normal people don’t sleep on the streets and go to the homelessness centre – Christmas really brings it all up.”
Knowing he could celebrate Christmas among people he trusted convinced Andrew to come to Hutt St Centre instead of spending the day alone.
