Lesson Plans and Resources
Easy to use lesson plans, resources, and videos to make homelessness education in the classroom simple.
Bring compassion and understanding into the classroom by downloading Hutt St Centre's seven ready-to-use lesson plans to help you teach your students about homelessness with confidence.
Each lesson is designed for a specific age group, covering Years R–12, but can easily be adapted to suit younger or older students—feel free to explore what works best for your class.
All lessons are aligned with the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) F–6/7 Australian Curriculum Aims and the Crossways RE Curriculum, giving you practical, curriculum-linked resources to make learning meaningful and relevant.

Your students are the future leaders of our society. Here are three advantages of incorporating homelessness learning into their education:
- Builds empathy and understanding. Students learn to see people experiencing homelessness as being equal in dignity and value.
- Raises awareness of social issues. Homelessness can be tricky to understand if you're not personally impacted. Our lessons help students think about the bigger societal problems behind homelessness.
- Encourages problem-solving. Your school is invited to join Hutt St Centre in our vision of an end to homelessness. Your students can be a part of the solution.
