A Fresh Start
for Stuart
At the start of the year, we shared Stuart’s life-changing journey from a lonely and painful experience of homelessness to empowerment and homefulness with support from the Aspire program.
Since Aspire’s inception, 469 people have been supported into secure homes, proving that compassion can truly change lives.
70 Years of
Compassion
2024 marked 70 years since Hutt St Centre was founded by the Daughters of Charity in 1954.
This Platinum Jubilee Year was a time to reflect on decades of compassion and action, commemorated through meaningful events for our visitors and supporters.

A Helping Hand
for Brian
Brian’s life was upended by a severe bone infection and cost-of-living pressures that forced him to stop working and lose his home.
Your kindness helped him access healthcare and secure housing, giving him hope and stability
Empowering Women
through IGNITE
At our IGNITE event, Vicky Welgraven AM, a proud Adnyamathanha woman and Hutt St Centre Ambassador, shared a powerful message of healing and resilience.
IGNITE provided a safe and welcoming space for women to come together 309 times this year, building strength and friendships.

Celebrating the Heart of
Hutt St Centre
During National Volunteer Week, we honoured our dedicated volunteers. Dulcie Boag, who has selflessly given 44 years of service, was awarded the Joy Noble Medal—South Australia’s highest honour for volunteering.
Altogether, 250 volunteers gave an extraordinary 16,070 hours of their time to make a difference.
Colours of Change:
Sala Festival
Art brought healing and expression to life at our SALA Festival exhibition, “Colours of Change.”
More than 20 artworks created by our visitors were proudly displayed at the Centre, admired by 128 attendees who celebrated the power of creativity.

Walking Together
This year’s Walk a Mile in My Boots brought more than 2,500 people together to show their solidarity with people facing homelessness.
It was a powerful moment of community and compassion. Together, we raised an incredible $513,849 to support essential services.
A Dream Come True
for Michael
Three years ago, Michael began playing soccer while experiencing homelessness.
This year, he achieved a lifelong dream, travelling overseas to represent Australia at the Homeless World Cup in Seoul, Korea. Your support made this amazing opportunity possible.

A New Home
for Janice
At 65 years old, Janice* never imagined moving back in with her elderly parents after a lifetime of independence.
Thanks to your generosity, she secured a beautiful one-bedroom unit that perfectly suits her needs, giving her back her independence and happiness
A Christmas
to Remember
Christmas Day at Hutt St Centre was filled with warmth, joy, and connection.
Thanks to you, 147 people enjoyed a festive meal, opened a wrapped gift, and celebrated the day surrounded by kindness and friendship.

Thank You for Making a Difference
Every time you contribute—through appeals, regular donations, challenge events, or leaving a gift in your will—you’re helping people facing homelessness in South Australia.
Our achievements wouldn’t be possible without your incredible generosity. Thank you for standing with us to end homelessness.
